The firm’s director, Rebecca Johnston, has more than a decade of legal experience across all of the firm’s practice areas.

Rebecca’s clients include multi-nationals, ASX-listed, large private companies, GTEs and SMEs. She advises boards and business owners on all aspects of corporate and commercial law including mergers and acquisitions, asset sales, general corporate advisory, corporate governance, regulatory and compliance issues. 

Rebecca has developed a particular niche in Aviation, Transport and Logistics, and advises airlines, airports, drone operators, port authorities, transport and logistics companies and other corporate entities across the full spectrum of legal issues.

Prior to establishing Johnston Law, Rebecca was the Managing Partner of full-service commercial law firm Mason Ledger, Managing Partner of Legal 500 ranked aviation law firm HodgkinsonJohnston, Senior Legal Counsel at Pilbara Ports Authority and General Counsel of KBE Legal Hub.

Rebecca commenced her career in Corporate/M&A and Transport & Logistics at Clayton Utz. She holds a Bachelor of Law (Honours) / Arts (Politics & International Relations) from University of Notre Dame Australia and MBA (Distinction) from The University of Western Australia. She is admitted to practice in Australia and New York.

She is the author of two books published internationally by Routledge – Air Carrier Liability, Safety and Security (2017) and Aviation Law and Drones: Unmanned Aircraft and the Future of Aviation (2018).

Rebecca was recognised as Young Private Practice Lawyer of the Year at the 2018 Australasian Law Awards and is ranked as a Leading Individual (Aviation) in Chambers and Partners Asia-Pacific 2019, 2020 and 2021.
